We started 21 years ago. Then, 2003, and we started mostly as a roofing company. Our primary business was roof replacement. And now since that time, we’ve gained more skills and things like that. So more emphasis in our siding and window business than we were in the past. So we’re really roofing, siding, windows, gutters. So we do everything exterior. We do have a unique skill set. I think in our, in our business, because we have really carpenters skill guys, guys that are we could build a house if you want us to, but really, we’re focused on the remodel of the exterior of your home and we use all premium products. So in our in our roofing, we typically lead with a either Owens Corning or Certainty. Those are our our primary lines, although we deal with most of the manufacturers and it depends on the taste of the individual. And we are mostly started on the, our siding. That is a premium product. And lots of different designs. The colors, it’s a lifetime product. So that siding product is, 50 year warranty, and there’s a non-pro rate warranty, which is kind of unique in our industry. Some people offer lifetime warranties or 50 year warranties, but they’re prorated after so many years, which makes them fairly useless. So this is a, you know, premium product there. Our window line is, is the most efficient window in the industry. They use what’s called a heat mirror technology. So that, for example, when the, Empire State Building got their new windows, they did select that, the heat mirror product because it was the most energy efficient, window in the industry. As a matter of fact, they did a study and they found that the amount of savings they had in energy costs paid for those windows in three and a half years. And you can definitely experience that when you, were to put these in your home. They do make a big difference in your energy bill. Again, we’ll interview the customer. What are the things that are most concerned about? We’ll take take into, account some of their future needs, some of their future concerns. So we’re not just addressing what, you know, we could fix something today, but we do give them a good plan ahead for what’s going to work in their budget, but plan ahead for what they’re needing to do next. We also are into some higher end, exterior solutions, including Hardy help. We do stone, stucco, and even do masons, all different types of masonry. So we could do anything to the exterior of the house. We are we are versed in all those things. I mentioned, our guys are more of a higher skill set. And these are my people. They we don’t go outside, use contractors. We do use our own people. We have three crews, one crews, totally dedicated to roofing. It’s headed up by, our crew leader, Victor. He’s been with us 16 years. We have a mostly siding crew, and that’s run by Tony. He’s been with us 11 years, and we have what I call a hybrid crew that does both roofing, siding. And they have been with us, and they do a lot of the masonry work, and they’ve been with us 11 years also. So we’ve kept a good group of people, people that have been with us a long time. And since we’re not using contractors, we, we were able to control our quality and also how we have to treat your property. A lot of people are going to deliver roofing or siding, but how they treat your property and how they conduct themselves on your property makes a difference. You don’t want to have. Someone was in prison two weeks ago. Walking around your house, being around your children, casing out your house. So all of our folks been with us a long time. They are familiar to us. We have screened those individuals. We don’t. We make sure they’re safe and that your property is going to be, and your family’s going to be safe. And then when we come here to do the work, we we stay engaged with the, the, the project until we’re finished. And we clean up when we’re done. And we try to be as least invasive, invasive as possible to your to your lifestyle. And again, I think the way we try to approach it is on a personal basis. You know, we’re again, I do a lot of to sit down with these homeowners. And again, my my goal is to say to you, hey, what are you, what is your goal? What kind of things do you want? And we’ll give you suggestions as much as possible. Another thing about us it’s a little unique is we typically don’t require down payments, which is big for a lot of our homeowners. Because we want you to be in control of the process the entire time. So what does that mean? I mean, we have to deliver before you’re given money to us. The only time you’re going to have to we request, down payments is when we have special orders. Windows, as an example. Everything’s ordered specifically for your house. Everything’s measured right down to the 16th of an inch. So it’s yours. You know, we we order it, but that money you give does goes straight to the ordering process. You get that material, you get that stuff ready for installation. Same if we have two words, maybe special order, some specific siding or those products, then we only have you pay for that material upfront and then the the rest when the work is completed. So I don’t like to hold on to people’s money if I don’t, if I don’t have to, we’re not going to ask you for a down payment. Just a hold a spot for you. We just. We don’t do that. So that’s. We try to stay, we try to let you stay in control of the process the entire time.
Clancy put a roof on our house about seven years ago, and he was wonderful to work with. March 14th of this year, a tornado hit our home, and we called Clancy right away. He, again, has been amazing to work with. The insurance company has been very difficult, and Clancy never gave up on us. Worked countless hours to help us have the insurance company approve all the claims. And the proof is in how the house looks now. We had an entire new roof. We had new vinyl siding put on and, a complete back wall of windows that were taken out by the storm. And him and Clancy and his crew were perfect to work with to get all that done for us. Took a total of six months, pretty much almost to the day of when the storm came through. Most of the challenges, though, involved insurance, with Clancy fighting with them to get approval to, take care of the damage that was incurred by this storm. It’s our biggest. Yeah. Struggle was the insurance company. We did hire contractors probably 15 years ago. They said they were going to replace the entire roof through the insurance company, and they replaced maybe a fourth of it and took the rest of the money and. Left all of it. So when we, talked with Clancy at Atlas eight years ago, I guess it’s been we had obviously pay out of pocket for our new roof and he was wonderful then. And that’s why we contacted him and only him for this new damage.
The history of this property starts about back in 2016. We were actually referred to this couple back then just to do a roof replacement. And then they had a, tornado blow through this neighborhood, early this year. And, they called us up again. They were happy with the work that we did the first time. And, we met with the insurance company, and we actually discovered more than just roof problems with this property. The tornado actually tore off some of the siding and also shook the house and caused some structural damage as well. Originally, the insurance company came back with a small settlement just covering the roof and replacing some of the siding. So we actually worked, of course, back with your Surance company. We were very concerned about the structure, whether it was straight it straight or not. So this case, we brought in an engineer and, we determined that there was some structural corrections that need to be made. So we actually what we ended up doing was having to remove all the siding, making sure all the, the, the frame was firm and straight. And then we strengthened that by adding OSB to the entire outside of the house. So now not only do we have a straight up again, we also have a structurally more sound than it was before. And we also had made some design changes with this house. So so we went with some different color siding. We added in some board and batten in a couple of different places and did a complete color change on all the trim, the siding and gutters, downspouts, everything. So we have a completely different look today is much more structurally sound. As part of the claim, we ended up replacing all these windows in the back and again in talking to the customer. They had a big problem. This especially in the summertime, this bank of windows was flooding in so much heat during the day because this side of the house actually faces the sun. They get direct sunlight all summer long, most of the spring, and, so in the afternoon they were experiencing just a big temperature increase. Because of the number of windows and the size of the windows here. So we we switched them to, the, the heat mirror technology. They don’t have that problem anymore, even though they’re getting that direct sunlight. That heat mirror is keeping the, temperature consistent in the house. They don’t have a big increase in in their, temperature. It stays consistent all day.
So some of the new features we added to the this house was we install some board and batten on the gable and on this center section of the house. So it was not an expensive upgrade. We were able to do this all within their allowed amount through the insurance company. So even though they had a sizable deductible, they did not pay any money out of pocket on this. Everything was covered within the claim. So they had a sizable deductible. I think it was around $2,500 or so, but we were still able to fit everything within their budget, and that’s how we kind of approach jobs. I really, no matter what their insurance claim is, I said, what do you want to do? What what kind of things do you want to cover, with this? So we start with that kind of conversation versus what the insurance company gave them. Sometimes it’s not what they want, what they need. So we make sure that we discuss the customer need first.
This is a house in Powell. Powell, Ohio. And this is a typical roof installation that we’re doing here. One thing that you’ll notice if you work with us is we don’t use subcontractors. You’re going to see us arrive in a company vehicle, and the people that work for us, you know, we we already have screened these individuals, so they’re all safe. You know, this is your this is your safe place. This is the place that, you want to make sure people that are coming here are the good people in this case here. The crew leader is Victor. He’s been with us 16 years, and he knows exactly how we want to conduct one of these installations. We want to, of course, keep the ground as clean as possible. Not damage any gutters or make any, damage to any landscape or anything like that. Typical crew size for us is 6 to 7 individuals. And in this case, our this crew is a mixed crew. We have, both male and female crew members. And these girls work as hard as any guy will. They’re really, really great, people to work for us. And right now, we’re in, phase on this project where we are, just making sure the, job site is tied it up. The final inspection is done on the work, and, we’re taking our time making sure everything is all buttoned up. Well, so this is, this product. Here’s a the certainty landmark shingle. That’s a lifetime shingle. It is, highest wind warranty in the industry. It also has a copper bead built into the shingle itself, so it doesn’t get the mold and algae growth on it. So it stays pristine looking for its lifetime. So this is, one of our latest installs here.
